Heaven Is Hiring — Believers Wanted
By Cannlene Bell, Guest Contributor

Take a look around at the world we're living in today. So much is going on, and people are trying to change things that God has already established. We see it every day. But while we're busy trying to make a living and find our place in this world, I have a question.
Have you ever thought about applying for a job in God's Kingdom?
Think about what we do when we're looking for a job. We fill out applications, prepare our résumés, get dressed up, and make sure we look presentable for the interview. We research the company, look at the benefits, check the pay, and find out what hours we'll have to work.
We'll do just about everything they ask us to do because we want that job.
But what about the Kingdom?
What about working for Jesus?
If Heaven had a help-wanted advertisement, I believe it would read something like this:
HEAVEN IS HIRING — BELIEVERS WANTED!
And the good thing about this job is that you don't need a college degree. You don't need years of experience. You don't have to come with a perfect background or a long list of accomplishments.
You just have to be willing to come.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:28 (KJV):
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
Think about that. He's inviting us to come to Him just as we are.
The world may look at your qualifications, your experience, your age, or even your past. But Jesus looks at the heart.
And here's something else. The price for our salvation has already been paid. Jesus made the sacrifice for us. He gave His life so that we could have the opportunity to receive eternal life.
You can't earn that kind of gift with a résumé.
But don't misunderstand me. Just because the invitation is open doesn't mean the journey is easy.
There is work to do.
There is repentance. There is obedience. There is learning how to trust God when things don't make sense. There is learning how to forgive, how to love, and how to turn away from things that don't please Him.
And that is a lifetime process.
Some days you're going to get it right, and some days you're going to fall short. But the important thing is to keep your heart turned toward God.
Because working for the Kingdom is worth it.
Now, let's talk about the benefits.
When we look for jobs in this world, one of the first things we want to know is what the company has to offer. How much does it pay? Is there insurance? What about retirement?
Well, let me tell you something about the benefits of belonging to God's Kingdom.
We have access to His peace. We have His guidance. We have His presence. We have a Father who loves us, provides for us, and delivers us. And even when life gets difficult, we know we don't have to walk through it alone.
Those are benefits money can't buy.
And what about the pay?
In this world, your salary may depend on your position, your education, or how many years you've worked. But in God's Kingdom, the gift of eternal life isn't reserved for the person who has been saved the longest.
It doesn't matter whether you came to Jesus when you were young or later in life. His grace is available to all who believe.
The same promise. The same grace. The same gift of eternal life.
That's the kind of reward this world cannot offer.
But there's something we need to understand. We cannot say we work for the King and then live as though we don't know Him.
We are in this world, but we are not of this world.
We have to be mindful of how we live, how we treat people, and what we allow into our hearts. We can't follow everything the world says is right just because everybody else is doing it.
God has already given us His Word.
And His Word tells us how to stand.
Ephesians 6:10–11 (KJV) says:
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."
We need that armor because this journey isn't always going to be easy. There will be challenges, temptations, and things that try to pull us away from God.
But we must stand firm.
We must trust His process.
We must have faith.
And we must remember who we're serving.
Jesus is more than just a name we read about in the Bible. He is our Savior. He is the One who paid the price for our sins. He is the One who offers us a relationship with the Father.
So, before you go filling out another application, preparing for another interview, or worrying about what this world has to offer, I want you to think about something.
Who is Jesus to you?
Not who your pastor says He is. Not who your family says He is. Not who you've heard other people say He is.
Who is He to you?
Have you truly made Him the center of your life? Are you willing to trust Him, follow Him, and allow Him to guide your steps?
Because the invitation has already been extended.
The sacrifice has already been made.
And there is still work to do in the Kingdom.
Heaven is hiring. Believers wanted.
The question is, are you willing to answer the call?
Tonyelle's Take
When Cannlene shared this message in Sunday school, what stood out to me was how much we prepare ourselves for opportunities in this world, but sometimes overlook the greatest opportunity we've already been given.
Think about it. We will get up early, show up on time, follow instructions, and do whatever is necessary to keep a job. But when it comes to serving God, are we giving Him that same commitment?
And here's something else I thought about. We spend so much time trying to qualify ourselves for positions in life, but Jesus isn't asking us to show up with an impressive résumé. He's asking us to come to Him, trust Him, and be willing to follow Him.
Now, that doesn't mean we won't have some growing to do. Oh, we will! And sometimes that growth comes with a little correction, a whole lot of surrendering, and learning to get ourselves out of the way.
But here's what I love. God doesn't wait until we have everything figured out before He begins working in our lives.
We have to remember that **we aren't working to earn salvation. We're serving because of the salvation and grace we've already received through Jesus Christ.**
And that brings me to a question I want us to think about.
If God looked at how we spend our time, how we treat others, and how willing we are to serve Him, would our lives reflect the commitment we say we have?
Something to think about.
Because the Kingdom doesn't need an impressive résumé. It needs willing hearts.
Let's Pray About It
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for loving us enough to send Your Son, Jesus Christ, to pay a debt we could never pay ourselves.
Father, forgive us for the times we've given so much of ourselves to the things of this world while giving You whatever time we have left. Forgive us when we've become so focused on earthly opportunities that we've overlooked the work You've called us to do in Your Kingdom.
Lord, teach us to serve You with sincere hearts. Help us to understand that following You is more than something we say. It is how we live, how we love, how we forgive, and how we treat those around us.
Strengthen us when the journey becomes difficult. Correct us when we get off course, and give us the humility to repent and return to You.
Father, remind us that we don't have to come before You with titles, degrees, or accomplishments. We simply need hearts that are willing to surrender and lives that are willing to follow.
Let our faith be genuine, our service be sincere, and our relationship with You grow deeper each day.
And above all, Lord, may we never become so busy working for the things of this world that we forget who we truly belong to.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
With love and encouragement,
