Let the Rain Fall: Protecting Your Wings in the Storm

Even butterflies know when to rest. Protect your wings, beautiful soul—your next flight is coming.
The rain poured this weekend—and I mean poured. Not the cute, cozy kind that makes you want to curl up with tea and a blanket. No, this was the cancel-your-plans kind of downpour. The skies gray kind of heaviness in the air that makes you sit still and reflect.
And somewhere in the middle of watching those drops hit the window, I thought about butterflies.
Did you know butterflies don’t fly in the rain? They don’t fight it. They don’t try to outfly the storm. They simply… rest. They find shelter under leaves or branches, wings folded in, and wait it out. Not in fear, but in wisdom. Because they know—those fragile, stunning wings were never meant to bear the weight of the storm.
Whew. I felt that.
And maybe you’ve been feeling a bit like that lately too—like life’s been raining on your soul. I’m talking about the kind of emotional, mental, or spiritual downpour that makes you want to check out, shut down, or pretend it’s not happening. But let me tell you something: You don’t have to fly in the storm. You don’t have to be “on” all the time. You don’t have to keep going just to prove that you’re strong.
Even butterflies know when to pause.
It’s not weakness to rest. It’s wisdom. It’s honoring the parts of you that carry your purpose, your joy, your love, and your light. It’s choosing to protect your peace instead of pushing yourself past the breaking point.
So if this weekend’s rain echoed something deeper inside of you… maybe it’s your gentle reminder to slow down. Cover your wings. Sit with God in the quiet. Let the downpour fall if it needs to. He sees you, even in the hiding place. Especially there.
The storm doesn’t last forever. And neither will this.
When the skies clear—and oh, they will—you’ll rise again. Not broken. Not behind. But stronger, softer, wiser… and more ready to fly than ever before.
Rest isn’t retreat. It’s divine preparation.
So let the rain fall, love. You’re not losing your way—you’re protecting your wings for the journey ahead.

AWESOME and so timely for me/your dad and mom being away to refresh, refocus and be re- energized. This rest during this time seems so natural, effortless and I believe divinely inspired and ordained by God as we experience this butterfly wisdom that you enlightened me to.
