Root to Rise: Anchored in Christ, Rising in His Strength

Yesterday’s Forward Fold and Release was a moment—a sacred pause to let go of the weight we carry. I pray it touched your soul as deeply as it did mine. But today, we’re not staying down. Oh no, beautiful! Today, we’re moving to the next part of the posture: Root to Rise. Because after the release comes the grounding. After the grounding comes the rising. And isn’t that the rhythm of life?

Let’s talk about being rooted for a moment. What does it mean to root yourself? In yoga, it’s the act of planting your feet firmly, finding balance, and feeling the ground beneath you. Spiritually, it’s the same—except the ground is Christ. When we root ourselves in Him, we’re not just finding balance; we’re building an unshakable foundation.

Think of a tree. Its roots dig deep, searching for water and nutrients, anchoring it in place so it can withstand storms. Without deep roots, a tree might look beautiful for a season, but one strong wind, and it’s done.

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”– Colossians 2:6-7

Rooting yourself in Christ means trusting Him in the unknown, diving into His Word, and surrounding yourself with people who nourish your spirit. It’s about digging deep so when life shakes you—and oh, it will shake you—you’re not moved.

Here’s the thing: you can’t rise until you’re rooted. You can’t just leap into the air without stability beneath you. But once you’re planted—secure in God’s promises—oh, the rising becomes inevitable.

When I think of rising, I think of renewal. The moments after prayer when peace rushes in. The clarity after a tough decision. The joy that follows surrender. Rising is not about striving in your own strength; it’s about standing tall in His.

In yoga, rising from a rooted posture is deliberate. There’s no rushing to stand. You press into the ground, engage your core, and lift with intention. Spiritually, it’s the same. Rising in Christ isn’t about scrambling to "get it together." It’s about pressing into His truth, engaging with His Spirit, and stepping forward with confidence, knowing He goes before you.

The Process of Root to Rise

  • Release First: Let go of what’s holding you back. Yesterday was about dropping the baggage, the fears, the doubts. You can’t rise carrying dead weight.

  • Plant Deeply: Dig into God’s Word. Pray. Meditate on His promises. Find a verse that feels like it was written just for you, and hold onto it.

  • Lift with Grace: Rising isn’t about perfection—it’s about progression. Maybe you’re rising with wobbly knees, or maybe you’re soaring like an eagle. Either way, you’re moving upward, and that’s what matters.

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”– Isaiah 40:31

A Prayer for Rooting and Rising

Father, thank You for the power to release and the grace to rise. Help me root myself in You—in Your Word, Your love, and Your promises. Strengthen me to withstand the storms of life, and when it’s time, lift me to new heights for Your glory. Teach me to rise with purpose, to walk in faith, and to stand firm in Your truth. Amen.

Rise Up, Beautiful

Remember this: Rising doesn’t mean you have to leap to the mountaintop today. Rising might look like taking one step forward, making one phone call, or even just whispering a prayer. Whatever your rise looks like, know this—you don’t have to do it alone. Christ is your root and your strength.

So, press your feet firmly into His promises. Stand tall, breathe deeply, and rise with confidence. Because when you’re rooted in Him, there’s no limit to how high you can soar.

Now, go on and rise, love. You’ve got this—and He’s got you.
