Speak the "What Is," Not the "What Was"

This morning, as I sat in my devotional time, I heard something so clear in my spirit that it shook me in the best way possible. It’s time to start speaking over our lives what is—not what was.
How many times have we looked at our circumstances and let them define us? How often have we allowed the "what was"—the failures, the pain, the disappointments—to be the loudest voice in our lives? But here’s the thing: we’re not called to live in the “what was.” We’re called to live in the “what is.”
God has promised us greater. He’s whispered it to your heart, written it in His Word, and confirmed it over and over again. Yet, sometimes we settle for looking at life through our natural eyes, forgetting we have a supernatural Father who sees far beyond what we can comprehend.
It’s time to flip the script.
Speak life over your situation. Proclaim the future God has for you, even if it looks different right now. Stop giving energy to what happened back then—those mistakes, those fears, those things that held you captive. Instead, declare what is:
You will live in more than enough.
You will have joy that overflows.
You will wake up every morning with a sound mind, ready to conquer the day.
Why? Because your Heavenly Father promised it to you. And let me tell you, His promises don’t return void.
Here’s the truth: We have a supernatural power through Christ to change the narrative. When we speak His promises, we activate something in the spiritual realm. Our words are seeds. When you speak “I am victorious,” you’re planting victory. When you say “I am healed,” you’re sowing healing. When you declare “I am loved and chosen,” you’re setting yourself up to walk in that truth.
It doesn’t matter what the situation looks like. Faith isn’t about what you see; it’s about who God is. And He is faithful to do exceedingly, abundantly more than we could ever ask or imagine.
So today, let’s shift the focus. No more lingering in the “what was.” No more rehearsing the pain, the lack, the heartbreak. Instead, with confidence, let’s proclaim what God has promised: life, abundance, joy, peace, and purpose.
Speak it, believe it, live it.
Your best days are not behind you. They are right now and ahead of you. The promises of God are “yes and amen.” So start living like it’s already done—because in Him, it is.
Take a deep breath, lift your head high, and declare: “I am living in the promises of God.” Watch how your life begins to shift.
Today, I challenge you to speak over your life—boldly, unapologetically, and with unwavering faith. You’ve got this, because He’s got you.
