Called to Board an Unsinkable Ship: Called FellowSHIP!

Inspired by Sunday’s Message from Pastor Phil Williamson

This week’s Sunday message was one for the books! Pastor Phil reminded us that some ships were never meant to sink—and the one God calls us to board is called FellowSHIP. It’s not about playing it safe or staying in shallow waters; it’s about choosing a deeper connection, a divine bond that sails through storms and anchors us in God’s love.

There comes a point in life when you have to decide what ship you’re sailing on. Some are anchored in relationships that no longer serve their purpose. Others are floating in friendships that feel comfortable but go nowhere. But then there are a few who’ve dared to board the ship that never sinks—the one built to weather every storm, every test, and every wave. It’s called FellowSHIP, and once you step on board, you realize this journey isn’t for the faint of heart.

You are either in a relationship, friendship, or fellowship—which one are you sailing in right now? Relationship is about connection—it fills a need. Friendship digs a little deeper—it fills a void or lack of purpose. But fellowship? That’s the one that fills a life. It brings fullness, wholeness, and contentment. It’s a bond that doesn’t break when the boat rocks—it strengthens. When all the other ships sink under pressure, fellowship floats because it’s built on something unsinkable: God’s Word and His covenant promise.

When the storms hit—and they will—you’ve got to know what kind of air you’re breathing. Because when the boat capsizes, it’s too late to figure out how to swim. Fellowship is the kind of air that sustains you when everything else fails. It can feel lonely at times because true fellowship often requires letting go of the crowds that kept you comfortable but stagnant. Sometimes God clears the deck before He can steer the ship.

Commitment is key. Don’t start something and abandon it six months later when the winds shift. God’s covenant is eternal—His Word is forever. That means the fellowship He’s called you to requires the same kind of staying power. It’s not seasonal; it’s steady. If you’re trying to sail through life in just a relationship or friendship, eventually, that ship will go down. But if you’re anchored in fellowship—with God and with those who truly walk with Him—you’re unsinkable.

Romans 8 reminds us that nothing—not death, nor life, nor angels, nor demons, nor height, nor depth—can separate us from the love of God. That’s the covenant that holds us steady through every storm. You can’t drown in fellowship because the presence of God lifts you above the waves. Isaiah 43:1 declares, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine.” That’s not just an invitation—it’s your boarding pass.

So ask yourself today: Which ship are you on?

Are you drifting on relationship? Floating in friendship? Or anchored in fellowship?

Only one of these ships is unsinkable. And when the waters rise, you’ll be grateful you chose the one captained by the Master Himself.

Tonyelle Truth for the Journey:

When you step into fellowship with God, storms may come, but you’ll never sail alone. Grab your faith, take your place on deck, and set your eyes on the horizon. You’ve been called to board the unsinkable ship—Called FellowSHIP.

Let’s Pray About It:

Heavenly Father, thank You for calling us to board the ship that never sinks. Help us to leave behind what no longer serves us and rise to the place You’ve called us to be. Teach us to stay committed through every storm and to keep You at the center of our fellowship. Anchor us in Your Word, steady our hearts when the waves rise, and remind us that we are never alone. May our lives reflect the strength, faith, and fullness that come only from walking closely with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
