Custom-Tailored Just for Me

There’s something powerful about slipping into something that was made just for you—and I’m not just talking about a good outfit, sis. I’m talking about life. My life. Your life. This beautifully complex, joyfully messy, ever-evolving, custom-tailored life.
You see, my life was handcrafted with intentionality—stitched with purpose, designed with destiny in mind. No one else can wear it. No one else can rock it like I do. And trust me, I’ve tried to squeeze into a few imitations over the years. Whew, talk about uncomfortable! They looked good on someone else, but when I put them on? It was giving tight, itchy, and why-does-this-zipper-not-close energy. Because it wasn’t mine. It never was.
And let’s be real—sometimes even my own life doesn’t feel like it fits at first. I’ve wrestled with it. Struggled to settle into it. I’ve looked in the mirror and questioned, “Was this really made for me?” But as I started wearing it daily—snags, stains, and all—it began to mold to me. It started to feel… right. Familiar. Mine.
Every stitch in this life of mine tells a story. Every seam holds a moment of growth. The buttons? Those are the moments that held me together. And the bling? Oh yes, those are the victories—the little glimmers of joy, of strength, of sparkle that remind me I’m still standing, still shining.
Now, don’t get me wrong—this custom life? It’s been through some things. Some tears in the fabric. Some holes from heartbreak. Some threads that have frayed under pressure. But the Tailor—oh, the Tailor knew all of this in advance.
The Master Tailor—the One who formed me—sewed in something special: grace and mercy. Woven right into the lining of my soul. Hidden inside each thread is a strength I didn’t even know I had. Love was hemmed in, kindness was stitched into the collar, and joy was embroidered around the edges. Even when I feel worn and weathered, this life—this vintage, well-loved, perfectly-worn life—is still holding up. Because the Tailor made it to last.
And one day, when this version of life has run its course, there’s a whole new outfit waiting for me. One that’s flawless. Eternal. Designed for forever. It’s hanging there, ready for that final fitting, where I’ll slip into perfection and never take it off again.
But for now? I’ll wear this custom piece with pride. I’ll patch it when I need to. I’ll dance in it, cry in it, laugh in it, and grow in it. Because this life—this exact one—is mine.
So today, let your light shine. Flash that one-of-a-kind smile at yourself in the mirror. And then go out and share it with the world. Because no one can wear your life like you can.
You are a walking original—graced, stitched, and designed by the best.
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
—Psalm 139:14 (NIV)
Dear God,
Thank You for the life You’ve stitched together just for me. Even when I don’t understand the design, I trust that every thread has purpose. Help me walk boldly in the life You’ve created for me, to honor the unique path I’ve been given, and to show grace when things don’t seem to fit just right. Thank You for the fabric of mercy and love that holds me together when I feel worn out and torn. May I continue to wear this life with humility, strength, and joy, knowing You—the Master Tailor—are always ready to patch me up and keep me moving forward.
Amen.
