Mid-Year Pause: Reflect, Reset, and Just... Hush

Can somebody please tell me how we’re already halfway through the year? I blinked, and June rolled up with her flip-flops and lemonade, acting like she owns the place. Like… ma’am, slow down!

Seriously though—June is that gentle (and sometimes not-so-gentle) reminder that we’re at the midpoint. That fair ride you got on back in January? Yeah, it’s still spinning—fast, loud, and sometimes dizzying. And while it might feel like you’ve barely caught your breath, this is the perfect time to pause and ask:

What chapter am I in right now?

Because life really is a story. A beautiful, messy, plot-twisting, God-authored story. Some chapters are full of joy, some are tear-stained, and others are… well, let’s just say we wouldn’t mind skipping a few pages. But each one matters. Each one holds purpose. And now, in the middle of this year, it’s time to check in.

How’s your life checklist looking? You know, the dreams, goals, or whispered prayers you jotted down in January (or maybe just tucked into your heart). Have you made progress? Stalled a bit? Thrown the whole list away and started over?

Wherever you are, hear me out: It’s okay.

This is your moment to reflect—not to criticize, but to recalibrate. Maybe it’s time for a reset. Maybe it’s time to get quiet, to hush—not just your mouth, but your mind too. I know, easier said than done. Our thoughts can run louder than our mouths on a Monday morning with no coffee. But stillness? Stillness is where God speaks.

I read something last week that rocked me: “His voice speaks through surrender.” Whew.

Sometimes we’re begging God to speak, to show us the way, to fix all the things—and He’s over there waiting for us to stop trying to fix everything ourselves. To hush. To sit. To surrender.

Psalm 46:10 tells us, “Be still, and know that I am God.” That stillness isn’t passive—it’s powerful. It’s a holy hush that invites God to step in and rearrange what we’ve been trying to control.

So, friend, in this mid-year moment, I’m inviting you to hush with me. Not in a scolding way—but in a gentle, soul-whispering way.

Hush the overthinking.

Hush the pressure.

Hush the comparison.

Hush the timeline.

Let God speak.

And when He does—whether it’s a word of comfort, a nudge to course-correct, or a sweet reminder that you’re still His—listen with your heart wide open. His direction may not always lead to easy roads, but it will always lead to the right ones.

This is your mid-year check-in. Not your final grade. So reflect, reset, and most importantly—just hush. Your next chapter is waiting, and I promise, it’s going to be worth the wait.

If this spoke to your heart, share it with a friend or subscribe for more soul-deep encouragement.
