When Letting Go Becomes Your Breakthrough

ree

This morning, while I was working — minding my business, sipping my coffee, and trying to act like I had it all together — my usual YouTube mix started playing. Nothing unusual… until that one song came on. You know the one: “Let Go and Let God.” And, when I tell you it hit different today? Whew. I mean, I’ve heard it before, hummed along, nodded like I understood. But this morning?

This morning, I listened. Really listened.

Before I knew it, it felt like the words were reaching straight into my chest, grabbing every little thing I’ve been trying to juggle — every stress, every worry, every “I’m fine” lie — and laying them bare. And in the middle of that moment, as if God needed to interrupt my thoughts before I spiraled into my usual overthinking, I heard it so clearly:

“Stop worrying, My child.

Let go of that job.

Let go of those boys.

Let go of that worry.

Let go of feeling less than.

Let go of what you think it should be.

Let go of the finances you’re trying to stretch with your own hands.

Let go of the future you’re trying to micromanage.

Let go… and let Me be God.”

Listen… I had to pause. Like actually stop what I was doing. Because those words hit me right in the place I thought I had under control. That place where we say, “Oh, I’m good,” but deep down, we’re tired, holding on tight, and pretending we’re the assistant manager of Heaven, trying to approve every detail of our lives.

And as I sat there, trying to blink the tears back, they blinked themselves forward. You know those tears that roll without permission? Yeah, those. It wasn’t sadness — it was release. It was that quiet, holy moment of realizing, “God… I really have been holding on too tight.”

The truth is, I can’t keep making everything happen. I can’t carry what was never my assignment in the first place. I can’t fix what only God can heal. And I’m pretty sure the same goes for you too, my friend.

So take a moment today — right now if you can — and look over your life. Really look.

What have you been gripping so tightly that your knuckles are tired?

What have you been praying about but still trying to control behind the scenes?

What are you afraid to release because you’re scared of what might happen if you don’t hold it together?

Here’s the gentle truth: When your hands are full, God’s hands can’t move.

But when you let go?

Ohhh, that’s when He steps in. That’s when things shift. That’s when the breakthrough begins.

Letting go is not giving up.

Letting go is saying, “God, I trust You more than I trust my need to control how this plays out.”

So today… loosen your grip.

Take your hands off the weight.

Let God have what’s been keeping you up at night.

You deserve that peace.

And God is already waiting with it.

Tonyelle’s Take

Sometimes the power isn’t in holding it all together — it’s in the quiet bravery of letting it fall into God’s hands. Loosen your grip, love. God can handle every single piece.

Let’s Pray About It

Father,

Help me release what was never mine to carry. Teach my heart to trust You more than my fears, more than my worries, and more than my plans. Today, I surrender the things I can’t control and open my hands for Your peace. Lead me, steady me, and remind me that when I let go, You take over — and that is the safest place I can be.

Amen.
